Istanbul Cultural Route Festival: Exhibitions
Paket Postanesi and Paket Postanesi Pier
September 27th – October 5th
As part of the Istanbul Cultural Route Festival, Galataport Istanbul hosts a special exhibition route that brings together diverse disciplines of contemporary art.
Spread across Paket Postanesi and the pier, the works on display range from sculpture to painting, from glass to epoxy, offering visitors a wide spectrum of artistic expression.
From Beste Alperat’s graceful ballerinas to Quasimotho’s canvases in dialogue with the unconscious, from Ozan Oganer’s fragile lace sculptures to Marquisate’s glass interpretations, this exhibition invites art lovers to explore creativity in the unique atmosphere of Galataport Istanbul.
Ozan Oganer
Curator: Esra Dora
Sculptures crafted from resin-hardened lace transform the classical understanding of sculpture, revealing the tension between fragility and strength.
Beste Alperat
Curator: Esra Dora
Pegasus
Drawing on motifs inspired by the Japanese paper-folding art of kirigami, Alperat blends figurative and abstract forms. The Pegasus, soaring with a single wing, symbolizes not only a physical ascension but also humanity’s intellectual and spiritual journey toward the unknown.
Ballerinas
Through ballerina sculptures shaped by kirigami motifs, the artist highlights both fragility and delicacy, as well as power and discipline. Their poised, fluid stances give the impression they are about to leap into motion at any moment.
KÜN
Asena İrmikci & Umut Can Yüksel
KÜN is an independent design project born at the intersection of different disciplines. Offering a modern perspective on the Orkhon Inscriptions, the work reinterprets a historical text in contemporary form while emphasizing the physical and emotional connections built with the city. “Kün,” meaning “sun” in Old Turkic, directly relates to the structure’s inner illumination, embodying the symbolism of light.
Quasimotho
Curator: Esra Dora
Merging art with Jung’s archetypes, Quasimotho translates the symbols of the unconscious into colors, lines, and marks. His canvases reflect fragments of collective mythology, aiming to create a spiritual resonance with viewers.
Cengiz Yatağan
Curator: Esra Dora
Through abstract imagery and epoxy casts, Yatağan establishes a spiritual energy field. His works build a connection between natural formations and the philosophy of Sufism.
Marquisate
Çağkan Paça & Güler Keresteci
Curator: Esra Dora
Reinterpreting the fragile nature of glass in the form of an egg, the artists transform it into a symbol of life’s cycles and collective consciousness. Their glass sculptures embody continuity, fragility, and renewal.
